The RT-AC5300 is a tri-band router that operates on 2.4 GHz and dual 5 GHz frequencies.
According to CNET, the new Asus product qualifies as a tri-band router due to its three Wi-Fi brands.
In addition, it contains the newest Broadcoms Wi-Fi chip.
That includes the impact of devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
The new router has eight antennas arranged in a four-transmit, four-receive configuration.
Asus says the router has improved Wi-Fi range and signal stability, reaching up to 500 square meters.
The RT-AC5300 utilizes AiProtection to help out with security, real-time web connection monitoring to detect malware and viruses.
The Asus product could be the first AC-5300 retail router.
