The incident took place at the Samsung SDI plant, located in the northern city of Tianjin in China.
Samsung SDI is the affiliate responsible for designing and manufacturing the companys batteries.
On the other hand, the fire department specifically cited lithium batteries as the fuel behind the conflagration.
The company has already confirmed a Note 8 will arrive later this year.
